I think back to the last time we made it together. I vaguely remember some of the ingredients....Flour... salt...oil... and... milk. So, I search on-line for pie crust recipes with those ingredients - NOTHING!
I was so sad, until I received a Fresh Strawberry Pie recipe from my co-worker, Susan Miller. I figured I would have to make a trip to the grocery store (like I always do) to purchase a FROZEN pie crust. As I was glancing at the recipe to see what other supplies I might need, I thought, "what the heck, I might as well try to make Susan's pie crust."
I began reading the ingredients...
1 ½ cups flour
1 ½ tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
Whip in a small bowl: ½ cup oil and 2 Tbsp milk.
Add oil/milk mixture to flour mixture and mix.
HEY, This sounds familiar! It was my Mom's pie crust recipe!
This morning the smell of the pie crusts baking in the oven brought back a flood of memories. My Mother loved to cook, bake and plan events.... I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree. :-)
Miss you Mom!
