Satisfy your chocolate craving with this easy hot chocolate recipe. Our trip to Italy inspired me to perfect this recipe.
You will need the following ingredients for two servings.
- 2 Cups of Milk
- 2 Dark Chocolate Hershey Bars (or any other "good" chocolate)
- 4 Tablespoons of Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons of Hershey's Cocoa (or any other "good" cocoa)
- 1 Tablespoon of Cornstarch
- Pour 1 3/4 cups of milk in a saucepan - place the remaining 1/4 cup to the side, for later.
- Break up chocolate bars and add to milk.
- Heat chocolate milk to light boil - stirring with a whisk to prevent scorching.
- While waiting for milk to heat, mix cocoa and sugar together in a small bowl or cup.
- Pour cocoa and sugar mixture into the boiling chocolate milk and stir constantly - back to a boil.
- While waiting for chocolate mixture to return to a boil, add 1 Tablespoon of cornstarch to remaining 1/4 cup of milk.
- Pour the cornstarch and milk mixture into the boiling chocolate mixture. Continue to whisk, until it thickens a bit. **If you cook too long, it may turn into pudding!
- Remove from heat and pour into cups
- Top with Whipped Cream (optional)
