You can use your stand mixer to prepare these yummy cookies.
Add the following dry ingredients to the bowl and mix
3 cups of flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
Slice 2 sticks (1 cup) of cold butter and drop the pieces individually while mixing into dry ingredients. Mix until particles are pea size.
In another small bowl, mix 1 slightly beaten egg, 3 tablespoons of milk and 1 1/2 teaspoons of almond (or vanilla) extract. Pour into the bowl with pea size particles and mix until dough forms a ball on the mixer paddle.
Dough can be chilled or used right away.
Cut with cookie cutters
Bake 5-8 minutes - Don't overbake - if the edges are brown you baked them too long.
Cool and Ice - With your children and grandchildren. 💓
*This recipe was given to me by Angela Burchett. They are her grandmother's "famous" cookies. She did not use an electric mixer... in her version she would add the margarine pieces into the flour with a pastry blender, or a fork until the particles were pea sized. When you make 5 or 6 batches at a time, a pastry blender can be hard on the arms and wrists. One day I tried using my stand mixer and never turned back to mixing by hand.
